Kitchen-Hack: Make Meal Prep Easy With Slow Cooker Dump Bags

If you thought cooking with a Slow Cooker couldn’t get any easier – think again!  Slow Cooker ‘Dump Bags’ are the perfect way to help you save even more time in the kitchen when it comes to cooking hearty and yummy meals for your family.

So what is a Slow Cooker Dump Bag?

The idea of a Slow Cooker Dump Bag is to help cut down on your meal preparation time by having all the ingredients you need for a slow cooker meal stored in your freezer.  To make your own Slow Cooker Dump Bags, all you need is a simple zip lock bag  to fill with your favourite ingredients and pop it into your freezer.  By having a few of these Slow Cooker Dump Bags stored in the freezer, you will have meals ready to go for those days you don’t feel like cooking. All you need to do is transfer your frozen Dump Bag to the fridge the night before you want it and then simply pour the contents into your slow cooker in the morning – too easy!

To make your very own Apricot Chicken Dump Bag, all you need is:

1 Packet of French Onion Soup Mix

1 Brown Onion diced

1 Chicken breast

1 tin of Apricot Nectar

1/2 cup of dried Apricots

1 clove of Garlic – crushed

1 teaspoon of Curry Powder.

Place all of the above ingredients into a large ziplock bag and store in your freezer until required. Then all you need to do is just transfer the Dump Bag to the fridge the night before to thaw, pour the contents into your Slow Cooker and cook for one hour on a high heat.  Reduce thereat to low and cook for a further 4 hours before carefully shredding the chicken breast and putting it back into your Slow Cooker with the sauce.  Once cooked, serve with steamed rice.

You can pre-prepare almost any type of slow cooker meal in a Dump Bag and for those recipes which require added stock, soup or tinned tomatoes simply add these ingredients to your slow cooker after you have emptied the contents of the dump bag.

  1. This is BRILLIANT! I thought I was a gienus by freezing a chicken and dumpling container (broth, veggies, cream of chicken/cream of mushroom) all that’s needed is adding chicken and dumplings later, but this is the next step! I will have to try to use this more as the more economical option is to buy more to pay less (especially with meats). Wish I had a bigger freezer .
