Strawberry & Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert Wraps Recipe
Oh my! Do I have a treat in store for you today!
Our Mexican Mondays took a slightly different turn this week when I decided to give the new Mission Foods Soft & Fluffy Wraps a whirl. As the name suggests of course, they are really soft and fluffy – and just begging to be filled with something chocolatey and delicious!
Now, you know me. When it comes to cooking, I’m all about maximum impact with minimum fuss, so I wanted to keep this recipe simple and easy to whip up as a mid-week dessert, or even a weekend breakfast treat.
They look amazing right? That’s nothing compared to the way they taste!
AH-Mmmmmm-azing! And they only took 20 minutes to make.
My 7-year-old Foghorn even said, “Mum, can you make these for my next birthday instead of a birthday cake?” Somehow I don’t think I’ll be able to wait until next June before I make these again!
Ingredients
Mission Food Soft and Fluffy Wraps (pack of 12)
12 tablespoons of cream cheese
12 tablespoons of your favourite chocolate spread
12 strawberries
6 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
Butter to fry
Method
- First warm the wraps in the microwave for 45 seconds. This makes them soft and easy to handle and roll.
- Place a tablespoon of cream cheese on the first wrap just off centre and spread out as shown below. (Remember we have to roll them so the filling doesn’t come out!)
- Place a chopped strawberry on top of the cream cheese.
- Add a dollop (tablespoon) of chocolate spread and then roll up like a burrito.
- Repeat until you have stuffed and rolled all of your Soft & Fluffy Wraps.
- To make the cinnamon sugar, simply mix the sugar and the cinnamon powder in a bowl. Tip: Use a bowl that will be big enough to fit the wraps in – as we will be rolling them in the mixture after we’ve cooked them!
- Heat a tablespoon of butter in a frying pan, and then place in a wrap (seam side down first) and cook until golden. Rotate the wrap until it is coated in butter and golden.
- Roll in the cinnamon sugar straight away. The butter will help the sugar to stick.
- Repeat until all of the wraps have been cooked and coated in cinnamon sugar.
- Serve hot (or refrigerate and serve cold). They are delicious either way!
One of my children loathes strawberries (I know! Strange child!). So I substituted chopped banana for the strawberries in his, and they worked equally as well! I can see us playing around with some more flavour combinations in the coming weeks. (Maybe a ricotta cheese and Kahlua filling for the grown ups!)
