One Week: Two Parenting Fails!
It is only a week since I committed the carndinal parenting sin of sending my child to daycare in fancy dress a week too soon. I’m hoping that my date-keeping skills are cancelled out by my enthusiam to embrace book week!
Luckily for me, Bubble is not adverse to a bit of attention, so she was not fazed in the least.
Yesterday, on the eve of the real dress up day, whilst watching The Grinch with Bubble, she announced , in no uncertain terms, that she wanted hair like Cindy-Lou. As any good blogger worth her salt I quickly consulted my readers on Facebook. How on earth was I going to recreate that head of hair?
Within a few minutes the answers started flowing in, complete with a link to American blogger (Doodle Craft’s) handy tip of using a disposable cup on the top of the head. Genius! We tried it…and voila…it worked!
This morning, armed with a can of hairspray, a plastic cup and several cups of coffee I set to work on Bubble’s hair.
“I’m Cindy-Lou,” she sang out happily as she surveyed her reflection in the mirror.
Come school-drop off time the Woo, and several of his friends proudly paraded Bubble around the schoolyard much to her delight.
“I’m the Grinch girl,” she told anyone who cared to listen, and let out a delighted cackle as the Principal approached her and shook her little hand.
Loving it much?
Later, as we walked through the doors at daycare, she looked around excitedly to show off her significant bee-hive!
Shuffling her down the corridor I said “Come, on Cindy Lou. Let’s show your friends!”
She jumped through the door to the room, in a manner that would have upstaged Madonna during the Vogue years, and was greeted by an uproar of laughter and compliments on her hairdoo.
Noticing all the other kids in their batman, spiderman, and Princess outfits Bubble turned to me indignantly and said “Muuuuuuuum! We were supposed to dress up today!!!!”
