The apartment which features its own glass shower and no cooking facilities has been listed for approx $400 a week and no, we’re not kidding.

The 25 square metre apartment is one of seven units up for rent at 4/201 O‘Connell Street, in the inner-city suburb of North Adelaide. As well as the usual fittings it also has no stove, a fridge that looks like a dishwasher and no laundry. BUT it does have a toilet in the kitchen. All this could be yours for between $400 and $420 a week.

Described as cheap rental for the area, the price also includes all electricity, gas and water. “It was converted from an Airbnb to help people struggling to get into Adelaide‘s rental market,” Real estate agent Rachel Lawrie told the ABC.

“We‘ve just successfully helped someone get a new property after living in number 4 for four months…and now they’ve moved into a fantastic home for 12 months.”

Ms Lawrie doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about and says it’s all legitimate and above board.  “For someone to have a dig at us is really frustrating,” she said. “All of the people applying for it have to see it in person, they are aware there‘s no cooking facilities. The glass is frosted and tempered. Everything is to code.”
