Girl Receives Doll With Prosthetic Leg Just Like Hers

As children we all loved playing with toys and dolls that we could somehow identify with. Whether the doll had the same colour eyes we did or was dressed similar to us, we loved seeing ourselves in them. Imagine how hard it must be then for a child with a disability to truly connect with their toys.

Which is why the reaction a young Texan girl had to receiving a doll with a prosthetic leg like hers was so utterly heart warming!

Emma Bennet, 10 was given a surprise present from her parents- an American Girl doll complete with it’s own prosthesis. Thanks to company A Step Ahead Prosthetics that modified the doll to the parent’s specifications.

The little girl was so happy with her gift she burst into tears, saying over and over “You’ve got to be kidding! It’s got a leg like me!”
She then read out a letter from the company which explained that her parents had sent the doll to them for modification. “After a few weeks of training, she is ready to go home and lead a life without limitations with you,” the company wrote.

Grab yourself some tissues and watch the moving video below:
