Messy Dinners Are The Latest Trend On TikTok But They’re Not For The Fainthearted
Parents who are looking for ways to get their kids interested in meal times are embracing a trend called MESSY DINNERS. As the name suggests, it involves dumping food into the middle of the table and letting everyone fend for themselves. Barbaric or genius? What do you think?
One of the videos was shared on the Transformer Table TikTok account, and begins with dad and son sitting at their plastic-covered dinner table.
“Decided to be a fun mum,” is written on the screen as the mum appears and dumps a full pan of cooked spaghetti straight onto the table. She returns a short time later and adds the sauce right on top of the pasta!

“Spaghetti dinner family style,” is written across the screen.
A surprised dad and son can then be seen eating off the table, as their youngest son walks around and hands out flowers. The screen reads: “Kids loved it. Husband was slightly freaked out. And I had significantly less dishes.”
The messy dinner clip is captioned, “Creative mum = fun mum,” and has attracted more than 244,000 likes and thousands of comments about the mum’s willingness to try something fun.
“No dishes to wash,” wrote one.
“I find this wholesome and connects the family,” another said.
“My family used to do this when we were kids! We called it ‘spaghetti on the table’ night. Kids would eat with hands behind our backs.”
While there meany comments applauding the mum there were also those who said there was no way they could handle eating in such a messy way.
“I can hear my Nonna screaming just watching this,” wrote one person.
“Your kids will love you but you might get divorced,” said one, while another said, “The father’s face. What’s going on here?”
What do you think of the messy eating trend? Is it something you would try yourself?
