Mum Says Smoking Weed While Watching Kids is No Different to Drinking Wine

Mother, wife and mental health advocate Caitlin Fladager has compared drinking wine and taking anxiety medication to smoking marijuana. She’s sick of the double standard that exists when mums say they ‘need their wine’ yet she’s judged for cannabis use. What do you think, does she have a point?

Caitlin Fladager, 28, lives in Vancouver, Canada, where recreational and medicinal marijuana use is legal. The mum of two shared an Instagram post recently calling out the hypocrisy that exists in parenthood: “If you see a mum drinking winewhile she watches her kids and it doesn’t bother you, or taking her anxiety medication, then this shouldn’t bother you either.”

In another video she says: “When another mum judges me for using weed while she pours her third glass of wine… wow you crazy, you crazy girl.”

The video was shared with the caption: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This double standard has got to stop. I constantly see shirts, posters, signs, mugs, etc that say “mommy needs a glass of wine.” Or “mom juice”.

“But the second a mother says she uses ?, it’s instant judgment a lot of time time.

I will forever share the benefits of this plant, and the amazing ways it can be used when done properly and with good intentions.”

Her Instagram is filled with ways to help “raise awareness” of how marijuana can actually help women become better mums and deal with stress and anxiety.

In previous posts the mum admits that marijuana has helped her when she’s struggled with parenting: “I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night’s sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind.”

And up until reverently she’s only smoked weed once her kids were in bed but she is now using and promoting a product that can hide the smell so it’s undetectable.
