WA One Nation Candidate Labels Single Mums ‘Lazy and Ugly’

WA One Nation Candidate Labels Single Mums ‘Lazy and Ugly’

Here’s one from the “We Can’t Believe He Was Stupid Enough To Say That” file – a Western Australian One Nation candidate thought it a good idea to publish his moronic thoughts on other people’s “lifestyle choices”, declaring that single mothers are “too lazy” to attract and hold a mate.

Not only did David Archibald say those words out loud, he wrote them down. And had them published over at the Quadrant Online in an essay article in 2015.

Mr Archibald penned his condescending drivel in support of Tony Abbott defunding indigenous Australians “living out in the desert” as it is a “pointless thing to do”. (Seriously, this essay is the gift that just keeps on giving, what a tool.)

Mr Archibald, hardly an oil painting himself.

He went on to suggest other “lifestyle choices” that needed defunding, including payments to anyone who falls pregnant outside of marriage, people on a disability pension who go fishing, and single parents who utilise childcare facilities.

I shit you not.

Here is the delightful screen grab from the essay, lest it disappear once One Nation goes into damage control. Click to view full sized or you can read it in bold below.

“The first that springs to mind is single motherhood.  These are women too lazy to attract and hold a mate, undoing the work of possibly three million years of evolutionary pressure. This will result in a rapid rise in the portion of the population that is lazy and ugly. We know what causes pregnancy these days, so everyone who gets pregnant outside of marriage is a volunteer.  This is an easy one for defunding.

Second, the 800,000 Australians on the disability pension.  OK, not all of them. But a good proportion are able to drive cars, bash police and each other, go fishing and so on.  We often hear about disability pensioners because their active lifestyle resulted in a contretemps with another party, most recently the recipients of disability payments who have overcome their infirmities to take up arms against civilisation in Syria and Iraq.

Now comes federally funded childcare.  This is a lifestyle choice.  Looking after children is very labour-intensive.  We evolved that way, with a prolonged childhood, to allow for synapse refinement in our big, energy-consuming brains.  Some mothers elect to look after their children themselves, or do so because distance from a job makes work impractical. Mothers who do work are, in effect, cross-subsidising those who also leave their children to the care of strangers.  If society wishes to encourage childbearing, it should reward that with tax rebates to the childbearing pair and leave it at that.

That is a few for starters. There are plenty more.”

Ohh I’m sure there are plenty more. And we’ll thank you to keep that shit to yourself, Mr Archibald.

Let’s break this garbage down a bit. This is what this deluded Pilbara candidate is actually saying here:

All single mothers are “too lazy and ugly” to keep a man interested in them, and choose to have lazy and ugly children outside of marriage. They volunteer to be single mothers as a lifestyle choice, and are wilfully undoing the work of evolution. No money for them.

• Anyone who can still drive a car or sit holding a fishing rod for an hour or two are clearly not disabled enough and are leading too much of an active lifestyle by choice. No money for them.

• Single parent families who leave their children “in the care of strangers” do not deserve to do so because they are single parents and it is not fair for working mothers to have to subsidise their lifestyle choices (you know, of being a single parent due to the aforementioned laziness). So childcare subsidies should only go to “childbearing pairs”. No money for single parents.

I guess we can be thankful that he’s outed himself as a low-functioning bigot before he could be elected to government. Wouldn’t it be great if they were all this honest regarding their true feelings about the people they are entrusted to lead and work on behalf of?

Did he make a failed attempt at satire? No. He meant to write this shit. He has made it clear that he is standing by his words.

It’s easy to write him off, saying that he’s just a candidate for a position in a mining town in Western Australia. And a One Nation candidate at that. What more do you expect?

Actually, a LOT more.

If we don’t hold our politicians accountable for the shit they say and write, we could end up with an orange muppet in charge, and we can all see how that’s working out elsewhere.
