One of the things that has become abundantly clear to me as I get older, is that everything is better after a good night’s sleep. As a full-time working mum of three teenagers, and wife to a FIFO worker, life can get extremely busy and at times overwhelming, which is why making sure I get a solid 8-9 hours sleep each night is non-negotiable for me. One of the things I incorporated into my sleep routine a few years ago to help me wind down and fall asleep more quickly was listening to meditation or sleep sounds at bedtime. What I Love About the Sleep Dreams Sleepsoftly Deluxe Sleep Headphones

Super Easy Set Up

After fully charging the face mask, I was relieved to find that connecting it to my phone via Bluetooth took a matter of seconds. All I had to do was turn the headphones on by holding down the play button until the red and blue light came on. Then search for the device named ‘Musical Eye Mask’ on my phone via Bluetooth and pair them. To show that they had paired only the blue light flashed, and I was ready to hit play on my meditation music and slip into a peaceful slumber.

The Light Blocking Feature Means I Get More Sleep

As I previously mentioned, I wasn’t sure whether I’d enjoy the sensation of sleeping with an eye mask on, but I was pleasantly surprised. My bedroom windows have white plantation blinds on them, which look nice but are awful at keeping the light out. This means that I generally wake a little before 5am when the sun starts to come up, whether I like it or not! For the past fortnight I’ve been sleeping in until 6.30am when my alarm goes off. That’s an extra hour and a half sleep! Winning! 

I Can Position the Speakers to the Exact Position I Want Them

Unlike the speakers in my trusty old headband (which now lies discarded and forgotten in my bedside drawer) the speakers in the deluxe sleep mask can be adjusted and positioned exactly where my ears are. This means that I get the best sound experience without my husband also being able to hear what I’m listening to whilst he is lying next to me. As an extra bonus, I can’t hear when he starts to do those annoying long puffs of air that don’t quite qualify as a snore but are annoying regardless because they signal that he has fallen asleep again in less than 0.23 seconds. Seriously, how do they do that?

It is Incredibly Comfortable

The reason why I initially bought the headband with headphones was because I am a side sleeper, so wearing any kind of in-ear device was a no-go and my everyday earphones were too cumbersome. The speakers in the deluxe eye mask are super slim meaning that even when I sleep on my side I can’t feel them, making using the mask a very comfortable experience. I love that it is made from breathable, cool material unlike my cheaper alternative, so I don’t feel overheated or wake up sweaty – which is super important especially during an Aussie summer!

It Can be Adjusted to Fit Me Perfectly

The strong Velcro fastener means that it stays in place even when I move around in my sleep. I love that the hooks on the Velcro are minute meaning that the two sides of the mask come together perfectly, and my long, curly hair doesn’t run the risk of becoming tangled and enmeshed in it. I’m not going to lie, having to disentangle my hair each morning from a grabby Velcro fastener would be a deal-breaker for me, so I’m particularly impressed with this!

Rolls Up Neatly for Travel

Look, I’m not even going to pretend that I’m the kind of orderly person that packs things neatly away. The eye mask is either beside my bed on charge, or on my head lulling me off to sleep. But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the neat little carry case that comes with it. Being able to roll it up neatly along with the charging cable makes it perfect for travel…and trust me, once you start experiencing the kind of sleep quality it facilitates, you’ll want to take it everywhere with you!

It’s Washable

Washing the eye mask is also simple. You can remove all the electrical components via the zip at the top by gently easing out the speakers. Then hand wash the sleep mask in cool water and allow to dry naturally. Done!

The Verdict

I don’t want to sound like I’m going overboard, but let’s just say if I was Oprah, I’d be giving everyone a Sleepsoftly Deluxe Eye Mask. One for you! One for you! And one for you!

If you’d really love to improve the quality and quantity of your sleep, I really can’t recommend this eye mask enough. I thought that I’d hit the sleep jackpot when I started listening to meditation and binaural beats at bedtime but combining that with blocking out 100% of light has taking my sleep to the next level!
