Ultimate Chocolate Bar Cake Recipe
Ultimate Chocolate Bar Cake Recipe
I apologise in advance for bringing you this recipe. Sort of. I don’t want to give anyone diabetes or put them into a coma or anything after all but this is the ultimate, most decadent, chocolate-bar, chocolatey dessert EVER. Like, ever…..
Have you ever stood in the lolly aisle and been a bit undecided? Mars Bar? Snickers? Bag of Maltesers? Caramello? Or maybe just a big slab of plain old Cadbury’s milk chocolate? Well, you can have ALL OF THEM with this. A different bit in every bite. I came across a video of someone making this dessert on Facebook with just Mars Bars but I took it to a whole new level by using a big box of Celebrations (although the Favorites will work equally well). Or even just stick to Mars Bars or Snickers if they’re your fave. But this has all the best bits. It was hard though, not to eat the tiny Picnics while I was making it because they are MY ultimate favorite but some of them made it into it. Along with Bounties and tiny little pink marshmallows too, just because they’re pretty. Feel free to throw in some maraschino cherries for colour. Or maybe throw a handful of coconut in there. No bake, of course. Ready in as little time as it takes to set in the fridge. Please don’t over-dose.
Ingredients
125g butter
200g milk chocolate
3 tbsp. golden syrup
100g crushed digestive biscuits (or granita/graham crackers etc)
large box of Celebration chocolate or Cadbury favorites or
8 large Mars Bars or Snickers bars
Mini marshmallows (if you like them)
1 Mars bar extra for melting on top
2 tbsp. cream
1 Violet Crumble for decorating
Line a small loaf tin with plastic wrap. Line the bottom layer with half the chocolates.
Melt the butter, milk chocolate and golden syrup together – about 1 1/2 minutes in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds.
Add the crushed biscuits to the mixture.
Pour half the mixture over the chocolates in the loaf tin. Top with another layer of chocolates, toss in the marshmallows randomly if you’re using them and then the remaining chocolate mixture.
Place in the fridge for 1 hour to set.
Unmold the giant chocolate bar onto a plate or board.
Melt the extra Mars Bar with the cream and drizzle half of it over the chocolate bar.
Top with a smashed up Violet Crumble and drizzle over the rest of the melted Mars Bar.
Slice into chunks. Go into diabetic coma.
