Aussie Mum Shares Surprising All-Natural Cleaning Product to Get Their Ovens Sparkling Clean

Aussie Mum Shares Surprising All-Natural Cleaning Product to Get Their Ovens Sparkling Clean

Here at MLHQ we’re always looking for the best ways to clean our homes with fewer chemicals, especially where our food is prepared and cooked, like the inside of our ovens. There’s no telling what nasties are being baked into our tasty meals and yummy treats!

So when we came across this surprising seafood hack with claims to get our oven doors sparklingly clean, we sat up and paid attention!

Sharing her discovery on Facebook, one Australian woman explained how she used a cuttlefish bone to clean her oven door with incredible results.

“Go to the beach and collect cuttlefish bone or buy at the pet shop,” wrote on the Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia Facebook group.

“Boil some water, pour into a bowl. Snap cuttlebone in half, dip in boiling water and use it like a scraper on the glass. Works every time and a lot faster, doesn’t scratch the glass and better for your health.”

She then shared an image of her oven door, showing how well it scrubbed up with the cuttlefish bone.

Who would think that cleaning your oven with seafood would be this effective?

Oven doors are the hardest to clean and any discolouration becomes super obvious because it’s right there for all to see. It’s good to know that we can get that bad boy looking fresh and clean with no harsh chemicals involved.

Cuttlefish bones can often be found for free, washed up on our beautiful beaches. Or, you can find them at pet shops as our feathered friends love crunching on them. You might even have some luck looking in seafood stores or in the pet aisle of the supermarket.

Another way to use the cuttlefish to clean surfaces is to crush the inner part of the bone and use it as a paste to remove limescale and burnt-on grease.

Much cheaper and more environmentally friendly than reaching for bleach or harsh cleaning products!

What do you think? Will you give this a go?
