Someone Called the Police After a 12-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Mowed Part of Their Front Lawn
What is the world coming to when a neighbour calls the police because the 12-year-old kid mowing the lawn next door accidentally mows part of theirs as well?
Reginald Field has his own lawnmowing business named Mr. Reggie’s Lawn Cutting Service. With the help of his siblings and cousins, he cuts grass for people in Maple Heights in Ohio in the US.
Recently, while mowing the front yard of one of his clients, Reginald apparently crossed over the boundary of the lawn and cut some of the neighbour’s grass by accident.
The neighbour decided that this was such an abhorrent act on the part of the twelve-year-old that they immediately called the police.
Seriously.
“They said I was cutting their grass. I didn’t know it!” young Reginald told ABC News 5 Cleveland.
Reginald’s customer, Lucille Holt, realised what was happening when she saw a police car parked outside. She made a Facebook Live video about it, admonishing her neighbours for calling the police.
“They called the police to tell the police that the kids were cutting their grass. Who does that?” Holt says in the video. “They call the police for everything.”
Who does that??
What sort of person calls the police over something as petty as that?
The neighbour, Linda Krakora, has claimed that she didn’t call the police on the children doing the mowing, but because of the “garbage” living next door, meaning Lucille herself.
“The police were not called on the young boy — the police were called on the garbage I have next door,” Krakora told the NY Times. “We called the police to ask the woman to have the kids stop mowing on our property because we can’t talk to her … I don’t have an issue with colour or I would have moved years ago.”
That… makes no sense either. She still called the police because a child mowed part of her lawn.
Regardless of her motives for her pettiness, something good has come of all of this: Reggie’s business has since boomed!
“People are inboxing me like, ‘how can I get in touch with these children? Where are they at? I got property I want these kids to cut,'” Ms Holt has said.
She even set up a Go Fund Me account in order to help the young man with his business expenses. Her goal was to raise $1,000.
Since his story has gone viral, Lucille has raised over $46,000 USD for young Reggie. The money was initially intended to help Reggie expand his business, including buying a new shed for his tools, but will now potentially be used as a college fund, changing his life entirely.
All because one insufferable peanut called the fuzz because her knickers were in a twist over a bit of lawn that wasn’t damaged in any way.
Bet she’s really pissed now.
Good onya, Reggie!
