A Cantonese language expert has been sharing the hilarious meanings of popular names on her social media channels, and we can’t help but feel sorry for those of us who are just now learning the bad news.
Dr Candise Lin has gone viral on TikTok as she explains what certain names really mean in Cantonese.
For example, in this clip, Dr Lin explains that the name ending -sie/-sy would mean ‘shit’, with the first part of the name describing exactly what kind of shit it is:
