Cosmetic surgery procedures are on the rise and they’re not just for celebrities any more. They have never been more accessible and more affordable to the average person with improved surgical techniques and recovery times. The good news is that there is a whole host of treatments that are non-invasive including botox, temporary fillers and laser liposuction. And the latest cosmetic procedure out may just very well prove to be the most popular one yet. Although available overseas for a few years this procedure hit our shores in February this year and you can now get rid of a double-chin in Your. Lunch. Break.

The procedure is also non-invasive and requires just 15 minutes of injections of a drug called deoxycholate (DC); a synthetic version of a naturally occurring molecule that appears in our bodies. The drug is injected into the fat and essentially melts it away.

This procedure has been available in the US for a few years now and although it’s not cheap (expect to pay around $2500) the results are almost always permanent. Previously the only other way to tackle this tricky area was through liposuction.

But before you rush off and book it in, make sure you check with your doctor first. Possible side effects can include numbness, redness, swelling and tingling and results can take up to 30 days.

Also make sure you do your research and choose a cosmetic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is experienced with the procedure.
