Tim Tam Slice Recipe

Tim Tam Slice Recipe

Tim Tams are without question my favourite chocolate biscuit.  Anytime there is one of these delicious chocolate biscuits on offer, I can never resist.  So it only makes sense that I would want to combine my favourite chocolate biscuits with one of my favourite slice recipes.

I have been making this chocolate slice recipe for years, and one of the things I love most about it, is that it is quite similar to a brownie recipe.  It’s an extremely adaptable recipe, and to turn it into a Tim Tam Slice, all I needed to do was add a packet of chopped Tim Tams – yum!

This Tim Tam Slice tastes great all on it’s own, or why not warm it up and enjoy it with a scoop of ice cream and if you are feeling extra decadent, you can even sprinkle a crushed Tim Tam over the top!

To make this Tim Tam Slice, you will need:

1  packet of Arnott’s Tim Tams

150g butter

1¼ cups of caster sugar

¾ cup of cocoa

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 eggs

½ cup plain flour

Instructions

1.  Preheat your oven to 160 degrees and line a 20cm square slice tin with baking paper – make sure you leave the paper long enough to hang over the edges

2. Roughly chop the Tim Tams into large pieces, you don’t want to cut them too small as you still want to be able to bite into the Tim Tams in the slice!

3. Place the butter, sugar and cocoa into a medium saucepan and stir together over a low heat until the butter has melted.

4. Transfer the melted ingredients to a large bowl and add the vanilla and eggs, whisking well as you combine.

5. Sift the flour over the chocolate mixture and again whisk to combine.

6. Spoon the slice mixture into the lined cake tin and bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until the centre has just set – don’t worry, it will still have a little wobble to it.

7. Allow the slice to completely cool in the tin,  before using the overhanging baking paper to carefully remove the cooled Tim Tam Slice from the tray.

8.Slice into squares and enjoy!

  1. Ive just put this in the oven. More like a brownie batter than a slice plus you didn’t say when to add the tim tams in so I added them in before putting into the pan. Cannot wait to dig into this. Thank you!
