Is There an Age Limit For Kids on Social Media?
The Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner has released an infographic, detailing the age children should be before they interact on social media services and apps.
It’s suggested that 13 years is the age for children to use social media, however, some apps require their own age ratings depending on the app’s content.
The infographic goes on the share the age limits to the most popular social media channels and apps that are used today.
Thirteen years is the minimum age requirement for most social media channels and meets in line with Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) which prevents the collection and storage of personal information from a child under 13.
When did your child start using social media? Do you agree with 13 being the minimum age limit?
