Deadbeat Dad Forces His Daughter to Choose Between Him and Her Stepfather to Walk Her Down the Aisle

Deadbeat Dad Forces His Daughter to Choose Between Him and Her Stepfather to Walk Her Down the Aisle

A deadbeat dad has made waves on the internet after going on a rant about how uncomfortable he felt at the thought of sharing the spotlight with his daughter’s stepfather as they walked her down the aisle.

His words sparked outrage that he could possibly force his daughter to choose between the man who ditched her as a baby and the man who raised her as his own, prompting many responses telling him that he was extremely fortunate that his daughter wanted him there at all.

He certainly chose the right subreddit to ask if he was in the wrong for feeling this way, as the Am I The Asshole community did not fail to set him straight.

“YTA (you’re the asshole). You’re gone the vast majority of her life so far and she still wants to include you in her wedding, even though you didn’t raise her? And your response to that is to make it about yourself?” wrote one of the first comments, saying what we were all thinking.

Possibly one of the most awarded and upvoted comments of all time immediately followed, and I’ve chosen to share it in it’s entirety as it is just that good:

This dad has been told.

Unfortunately for us, he did not return to respond to any of the three thousand, five hundred and ten comments calling him out for his selfish tantrum, nor did he edit his original post to include an update.

We can only hope for his daughter’s sake that he saw the error of his ways and quickly sought her forgiveness. Or, if not, at least she has really seen his true colours and can cut all ties and move on with her life.

What are your thoughts?
