NYPD Shares The Adventures Of Pete, Their ‘Law & Order’-Themed Elf On The Shelf
It seems that pretty much everyone has a mischievous little elf friend visit them during the Christmas season, and the New York Police Department is no different!
Pete, the official NYPD 19th Precinct Elf on the Shelf, made his appearance at the beginning of this month and his adventures are being documented by police staff on Twitter.
Join us in welcoming Pete, a new addition to our squad!
Transferring in from the far North on a temporary assignment, Pete’s helping us launch a holiday pilot program—to determine if you’ve been bad or good. For goodness sake, we hope it works! #PeteOnTheBeat reporting for duty! pic.twitter.com/EZ6krnodYZ

Pete is being included in all the daily briefings just like other police officers in New York City.

This one is a personal favourite:
In the criminal justice system, candy cane assaults are considered especially heinous.
In New York City, the dedicated detective who investigates these vicious crimes is a member of an elite squad & is known as #PeteOnTheBeat. These are his stories. #DunDun pic.twitter.com/LUMGs4n8E4

Here is Pete overseeing the Christmas decorations at HQ.
We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til January… ? #PeteOnTheBeat supervising the proper placement of Christmas decorations at the precinct, after all he is the expert on this matter. Looks great Cadet Coley! #ChristmasTreeFarm pic.twitter.com/zGF7UstuGI

Always one to hand out some good advice, Pete even thinks of others while he is working out.
Being away from the North Pole is no excuse for not staying swole…
But #PeteOnTheBeat really should know better! While at the gym, never leave your stuff unattended, even for a second! Leave large amounts of ?/? at home & lock the rest in a locker. #LockItOrLoseIt pic.twitter.com/zZiGNF0B40

He even went on a little trip to the Central Park Zoo!
Feeling slightly homesick for the north, we found #PeteOnTheBeat at the @centralparkzoo visiting some familiar faces. #Puffins
Pete, remember no tapping on the glass! We don’t want the zoo to call @NYPDCentralPark! pic.twitter.com/1Q97ldw37f

We can’t wait to see what adventures Pete gets up to next during his temporary placement in the Big Apple!
