Taylor Swift had the honours of opening the show with an amazing performance of her new single, Bank Space. She literally brought the video of the song to life, including the dinner scene and a group of tuxedo wearing men carrying photo frames. She lit a rose on fire with her hand and used her ‘power’ to blow a man off stage.

Taylor also won the Dick Clark Award for Excellence which was given to her on stage by Diana Ross, who called her a ‘true superstar’.
“I’m so blown away to have just received an award from Diana Ross, who just over the course of her career has stood up for herself so many times in a time when it was not popular for a woman to stand up for herself,” Taylor said. “I’m so honoured. . .you’re beautiful.”

Selena Gomez took to the stage to perform her new song, The Heart Wants What It Wants. The song is loosely based around her highly publicised relationship with Justin Bieber and she was very emotional after singing it. Her bestie Taylor Swift was also looking pretty sad in the audience.
To finish off the performances for the night, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea performed their single, Booty. Iggy tweeted later that night, ‘and of course @jlo made me look like a pile of dog poo standing next to her because she’s so perfect. Serioulsy tho, I love her. Babeville.

Iggy Azalea walked into the night as the lead nominee with six nods, taking home two of them including Favourite Rap/Hip-Hop Album. She said of the win, “This award is the first award I’ve ever won in my entire life, and it means so much to me that it is for best hip-hop because that’s what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams, and it’s what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times.”
