This Mum Got Way Too Excited When Her Baby Spoke for the First Time

Waiting for your baby to say their first words can be overwhelming — all you want to do is hear their little voice and try and understand what is going through their baby heads. It’s an exciting time for parents.

But one mum took her excitement just a little too far, terrifying her little one in the process.

The unnamed mum was filming her child in a high chair, encouraging them to say “mama.” When the baby finally does say it, she utterly freaks out and starts shrieking, “Agghhhh! You actually did it!”

The baby stares wide-eyed and in shock at their mother’s reaction, then loses it completely, never to speak again, no doubt!

Oops! Hopefully, the little one isn’t traumatised forever and will eventually make another attempt at communication, hopefully with a slightly calmer response from Mama!

I don’t remember my children’s first words — they were always mumummum or dadadad anyway. What I chose to remember is their first two-word sentences, because they were way more fun!

Our eldest’s first two-word sentence was “More chippies” because we were on our way home from a KFC run and I was handing her chips from the packet to eat on the way home.

Her little sister’s first sentence was “Emmy home”, again in the car as I took her out to the post office while I left her big sister home with my husband.

Our third child’s first two-word sentence probably should fill me with shame but I’m not having it. He said “Mum’s beer” one particularly draining afternoon. Hey, he was right! And I was not sharing.

Finally, our fourth child’s first words were “Bye birds” which she said while waving to some mynah birds as they flew away.

And none of them have shut up for one damn minute since.

Maybe I should have screamed at them hysterically like the mum in the video? We might have had some peace for a bit!
