The Importance of Good Digestive Health

PLUS A Delicious, Healthy Snack Idea to Satisfy Your Cravings for Something Sweet

If you’ve ever suffered from bloating, you’ll know that it can have a negative impact on both how you feel in yourself, and how you fit into your clothes, not to mention it can be downright uncomfortable too.
Our digestive system is responsible for breaking down what we eat; extracting and distributing the nutrients our body needs and eliminating those we don’t. Most of us are aware that fibre and probiotics (good bacteria) are good for our digestive health, right? But, what about prebiotics?

What are Prebiotics?

Prebiotics, in simple terms, is the food that keeps the beneficial bacteria in your gut alive and healthy. Prebiotics and fibre are a team made in digestive-health heaven! The fibre helps your body eliminate waste efficiently, and prebiotics provide the nourishment to keep your system healthy and working properly.

How can you ensure an intake of Fibre and Prebiotics?

The Active Balance range of cereals from Freedom Food not only contain the dynamic digestive duo – fibre and prebiotics – it is also free from anything else you wouldn’t want in it, ensuring optimal digestive balance and health.

The Importance of Breakfast

Breakfast provides your body and brain with the fuel and energy it needs to fire back up after a night of fasting. Choosing a nutritious breakfast is beneficial for more than just filling your tank up though; it wakes up your metabolism, restores glucose levels, improves cognitive function, improves mood and lowers stress, and it’s good for your waistline! If you’ve had a good healthy breakfast, you’ll be much less likely to reach for and binge on fatty or unhealthy alternatives come mid-morning.

Satisfy Cravings for Sweet Treats

A Delicious, Healthy Snack Idea to Satisfy Your Craving for Something Sweet

Who said cereal was just for breakfast?

My family and I have been trialling both cereals from the Freedom Food Active Balance range for the past few weeks. The Multigrain and Cranberry is my personal favourite, and I have found myself turning to it when the 3pm slump hits.

Instead of picking up a chocolate bar for a quick-fix, or a handful of biscuits with my tea, I have been whipping up this quick, and easy yogurt crunch to get me through. It satisfies my craving for something sweet, gives me the energy I need to get through until dinnertime, and it’s good for my digestive health! And I love anything with a bit of crunch! Winning!

Seriously, if you are looking for a healthy snack to stop sweet cravings in it’s tracks, or something to help beat the bloat, you’ll love this low-fat Greek yogurt and Active Balance cereal combination. I even add a drizzle of organic honey if I’m feeling particularly decadent, but it would also be delicious with blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries. The possibilities are endless really!
